Assent of the Holy Father to the election of bishop of the major archiepiscopal Curia of Kyiv-Halyč

The Synod of Bishops of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, having received prior pontifical assent, has canonically elected the Reverend Stepan Sus, of the major metropolitan archieparchy of Lviv of the Ukrainians, as bishop of the major archiepiscopal Curia of Kyiv-Halyč, assigning him the titular see of Zigri.

The Reverend Stepan Sus was born on 7 October 1981 in Lviv.

He received his priestly formation in the “Holy Spirit” and at the Catholic University of Ukraine. He completed his studies at the Catholic University of Lublin, where he was awarded a “Magistero” in theology.

After being ordained a deacon in 2005, he carried out the ministry of pastoral assistant at the Military Academy of Lviv and, at the same time, of chaplain at a number of academic institutions in the same city.

In the meantime, on 30 June 2006, he was ordained a priest for the Ukrainian metropolitan archieparchy of Lviv.

From 2008 to 2012 he was responsible for the mission for pastoral assistance to the military in the same archieparchy.

From 2012 to the present, he has served as syncellus of the archieparchy of Lviv of the Ukrainians for the military, prisoners, students and orphans, as well as parish priest of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, under the authority of the military garrison of Lviv.
