Appointment of coadjutor of the diocese of Concepción, Argentina
The Holy Father has appointed Bishop José Melitón Chávez of Añatuya as as coadjutor of the diocese of Concepción, Argentina.
Bishop Chávez was born in Romera Pozo, archdiocese of Tucumán, on 2 July 1957. He entered the Nuestra Señora De la Merced y San José Seminary of Tucumán and was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Tucumán on 29 November 1985.
He was parish vicar of the parishes of La Victoria and San Isidro Labrador de Lules, parish priest of the parishes of San José and El Salvador; vicar forane; formator; vice-rector and rector of the major seminary of Tucumán; assessor of Catholic Action; vicar general; episcopal vicar for Solidarity and member of the presbyteral council and the council of consultors. Appointed as bishop of Añatuya on 17 October 2015, he received episcopal ordination on the following 4 December.
In the episcopal conference he is a member of the Commission for Social Pastoral Care.
