Farewell Ceremony at Port Louis Airport, Mauritius

At 18.45 (16.45 Rome), the farewell ceremony took place in Port Louis Airport, Mauritius.

Upon arrival in the airport, the Holy Father Francis was welcomed by the prime minister, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. After passing through the Guard of Honour, the Pope boarded an Air Mauritius A330 in order to return to Madagascar.

The aircraft carrying the Holy Father departed from Port Louis Airport at 19.15 local time (17.15 in Rome) and landed at Antananarivo Airport at 20.10 local time (19.10 in Rome).

The Pope returned by car to the apostolic nunciature of Antananarivo.

Immediately after departure from Port Louis, the Holy Father Francis sent the following telegraphic message to the interim President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr. Barlen Vyapoory:
