Appointment of delegate presidents of the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region

The Holy Father, in view of the Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon Region, to take place in the Vatican from 6 to 27 October 2019 on the theme Amazonia: new paths for the Church and for integral ecology, has appointed as delegate presidents the Eminent Cardinals:

Baltazar Enrique Porras Cardozo, apostolic administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of Caracas, archbishop of Mérida, Venezuela;

Pedro Ricardo Barreto Jimeno, archbishop of Huancayo, Peru, vice-president of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM);

João Braz de Aviz, prefect of the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life.
