Resignation of bishop of Varaždin, Croatia, and appointment of successor

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Varaždin, Croatia, presented by H.E. Msgr. Josip Mrzljak.

The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Varaždin, Croatia, the Rev. Can. Bože Radoš, of the clergy of the archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek, currently rector of the Pontifical Croatian College of Saint Jerome in Rome.

Rev. Can. Bože Radoš

The Rev. Can. Bože Radoš was born on 5 September 1964 in Crvenice (diocese of Mostar-Duvno) in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After elementary school, he carried out his classical studies first in Zagreb and then in Đakovo (1979-1983). From 1983 to 1990 he studied philosophy and theology in Đakovo. He was ordained a priest on 29 June 1990. From 1991 al 1997 he studied spiritual theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University, obtaining a licentiate.

After priestly ordination he held the following offices: deputy priest in Osijek (1990-1991); spiritual director at the Major Seminary of Đakovo and assistant for the ongoing formation of young priests (1997-2016); lecturer in the Đakovo Faculty of Theology (1997-2016); and member of the presbyteral council (2013-2016). In 2010 he became canon of the cathedral chapter of Saint Peter in Đakovo. He is currently rector of the Pontifical Croatian College of Saint Jerome in Rome, a role he has held since 2016.
