Resignation of bishop of Treviso, Italy, and appointment of successor
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Treviso, Italy, presented by H.E. Msgr. Gianfranco Agostino Gardin, O.F.M. Conv.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Treviso, Italy the Rev. Msgr. Michele Tomasi, of the clergy of the diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone, currently rector of the diocesan seminary and episcopal vicar for the clergy.
The bishop-elect was born in Bolzano in 1965 and was ordained a priest in 1998. He attended the Bocconi University in Milan. In 2017 he obtained a doctorate from the University of Innsbruck.
He has served in a number of pastoral and academic roles, including parish priest, head of pastoral care in Italian of the deanery of Vipiteno, lecturer at the Theological Academic Studium of Bressanone, vicar general, and episcopal vicar for the clergy. He is currently rector of the major seminary, diocesan head of vocational pastoral care, canon of the Cathedral of Bressanone and ecclesial assistant of the “La Strada – Der Weg” Association.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Iaşi, Romania presented by H.E. Msgr. Petru Gherghel.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of Iaşi, Romania the Rev. Iosif Păuleţ, of the clergy of the same diocese, currently dean of Bucovina and parish priest of Suceava.
The bishop-elect was born in 1954 in Tămăşeni, in the diocese of Iaşi, and was ordained a priest in 1979. He holds a bachelor’s degree in pastoral theology.
He has served in a number of pastoral roles, including parish priest, spiritual director of the major seminary of Iaşi, spiritual director of the minor seminary of Bacāu, parish priest in Oneşti and dean of Trotuş. He is currently parish prest of Suceava and dean of Bucovina. He is a member of the presbyteral council, the college of consultors and the Commission of Liturgical Hymns of the diocese of Iaşi.
