Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Paris, France
The Holy Father has appointed the Rev. Msgr. Philippe Marsset as auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Paris, France, assigning him the titular see of Tibica, currently vicar general.
The bishop-elect was born in 1957 in Lyon, in the archdiocese of the same name. He studied at the Faculté de Droit, d’Economie et de Gestion Paris Descartes in Malakoff and then at the Université de Nantes, obtaining a licentiate in public law. In 1982 he entered the Saint-Sulpice Seminary in the diocese of Nanterre, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in theology.
He was ordained a priest in 1988 for the diocese of Paris.
Since ordination he has served in a number of pastoral roles, including parish vicar, chaplain of the Pôle Jeunes Daubigny for the Pierre de Ronsard College, diocesan and regional chaplain for the Scouts de France, chaplain of the Pôle jeunes for the Camille Sée Lyceum; parish priest, national chaplain of the CLER Amour et Famille Association, member of the presbyteral council, member of the college of consultors, and since 2018, vicar general and administrator of the Notre-Dame de Clignancourt parish.

The Holy Father has appointed His Eminence Cardinal Angelo Amato, S.D.B., prefect emeritus of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, as his special envoy at the celebration of the bicentenary of the erection of the diocese of Cerignola, to take place on 14 June 2019.
