Resignation of bishop of Limeira, Brazil, and appointment of apostolic administrator

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation of the bishop of the diocese of Limeira, Brazil, presented by H.E. Msgr. Vilson Dias de Oliveira, D.C., and has appointed as apostolic administrator sede vacante of the same diocese H.E. Msgr. Orlando Brandes, metropolitan archbishop of Aparecida.

Appointment of coadjutor bishop of Baruipur, India

The Holy Father has appointed as coadjutor bishop of Baruipur, India, the Rev. Shyamal Bose, of the clergy of Baruipur, currently bursar and chancellor of the same diocese.

The bishop-elect was born in 1961 in Gosaba, diocese of Baruipur. He holds a licentiate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Institute of Saint Peter, Bangalore. He was ordained a priest on 5 May 1991 for the diocese of Baruipur.

Since priestly ordination he has held a number of pastoral roles, including parish vicar, parish priest, director of the Diocesan Social Services Centre, vicar general and chancellor of the diocese of Baruipur, and director of the Regional Social Centre. He is currently bursar and chancellor of the diocese of Baruipur.
