Appointment of bishop of Malolos, Philippines

The Holy Father Francis has appointed as bishop of Malolos, Philippines, H.E. Msgr. Dennis C. Villarojo, currently titular bishop of Gisipa and auxiliary of the archdiocese of Cebu.

The bishop-elect was born in Cebu City in 1967 and was ordained a priest in 1994. He holds a doctorate in philosophy from the University of the Holy Cross, Rome. He has served in a number of pastoral and administrative roles, including personal secretary to the cardinal archbishop of Cebu, and was coordinator of the pastoral plan of the archdiocese. In 2015 he was appointed as secretary general of the 60th International Eucharistic Congress in Cebu, held in 2016. He was appointed as titular bishop of Gisipa and auxiliary of Cebu in 2015.
