Appointment of auxiliary of Elbląg (Poland)
The Holy Father Francis has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Elbląg, Poland, the Rev. Wojciech Skibicki of the clergy of the same diocese, currently director of the Department for Catholic Education of the Curia, assigning him the episcopal see of Case nere.
Rev. Wojciech Skibicki
The Rev. Wojciech Skibicki was born on 23 May 1970 in Skrwilno, diocese of Płock. After his philosophical and theological studies, he was ordained a priest on 10 June 1995 in Elbląg and was incardinated in the same diocese.
Since priestly ordination he has served as vicar in the parish of the Holy Family in Elbląg (1995-1996) and later as personal secretary and chaplain of the bishop of Elbląg (1996-1997). During the years 1997-2003 he completed his studies in liturgy at the Catholic University of Lublin, attaining a doctorate. From 2003 to 2010 he was again chaplain and personal secretary of the bishop of Elbląg. In the years 2004-2016 he was vice-rector of the major seminary and, since 2016, he has served as director of the Department for Catholic Education of the diocesan Curia.
He is currently also a member of the college of consultors, canon of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Elbląg, spokesperson of the diocesan Curia and head of the apostolic formation of families, also included in the Chemin Neuf community. He knows German and English.
