Lunch with Members of the Papal Entourage in the “Casa de retiros” of the Shrine of “Nuestra Señora de Lourdes”
Today, at 14.00 local time (18.00 in Rome), the Holy Father Francis lunched with the papal entourage at the “Casa de retiros” of the Shrine of Nuestra Señora de Lourdes”.
Upon arrival the Pope was received by the Rector and two priests from the Casa, who accompanied him to the Church, where he offered a floral tribute presented by three children.
The lunch was attended by ten people with health problems and a family member representing the victims of the repression during the 1970s, who gave the Pope a letter. Before leaving the House, the Holy Father posed for a photograph with a group of seminarians, Salesian Missionary Sisters who served lunch, and some members of the local Organizing Committee. Finally, after greeting from the popemobile a group of priests gathered in the street in front of the exit, the Pope transferred by car to the “Diego Aracena” Airport of Iquique for the farewell ceremony.

This afternoon, at 16.15 local time (20.15 in Rome), the farewell ceremony from Chile took place at “Diego Aracena” International Airport.
Upon arrival the Holy Father Francis was received by the President of the Republic, Michelle Bachelet Jeria. After the military honours and greetings from the respective delegations, the aircraft – a LATAM A321 – carrying the Holy Father departed at 16.50 local time (20.50 in Rome), destined for Lima.

Immediately after departure, the Holy Father Francis sent the following telegram to the President of the Republic of Chile:

Welcome Ceremony in Peru at Lima International Airport
The aircraft carrying the Holy Father landed at Lima International Airport at 16.50 local time (22.50 in Rome).
Upon arrival the Pope was received by the President of the Republic of Peru, Mr. Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, by the archbishop of Lima, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani Thorne, by the bishop of Callao, H.E. Msgr. José Luis Del Palacio y Pérez-Medel and by the President of the Episcopal Conference of Peru, H.E. Msgr. Salvador Piñeiro. Two children in traditional dress then presented flowers to the Pope. Political and religious leaders, a group of faithful and the orchestra “Symphony for Peru” were also present.
After the military honours and the national anthems, the presentation of the respective delegations took place.
At the end of the ceremony, the Holy Father transferred by car to the apostolic nunciature in Lima.
