Appointment of auxiliary of Toluca, Mexico

The Holy Father has appointed H.E. Msgr. Maximino Martínez Miranda, currently bishop of Ciudad Altamirano Mexico, as auxiliary of Toluca, Mexico, assigning him the titular see of Lugura.

 

H.E. Msgr. Maximino Martínez Miranda

H.E. Msgr. Maximino Martínez Miranda was born on 29 May 1951 in Palos Altos, diocese of Toluca. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the Toluca Seminary.

He was ordained a priest on 21 September 1979. Following the creation of the new diocese of Atlacomulco, he passed to the new ecclesiastical circumscription.

As a priest he has held the following positions: cooperating vicar of the parish of “Almoloya de Juárez” (from 1979 to 1981); pastor of “San Antonio de la Isla”, Toluca (1981-1982); parish priest of “San Pedro el Alto”, Atlacomulco (1982 to 1986); editor of the magazine “Ad gentes y sembradores” (1993 to 1996); parish priest of “Santa María de Guadalupe” in Canalejas (1996-2000); and pastor of “Santa María de Guadalupe”, El Oro (from 2000 to 2002). From 2000 to 2006 he was vicar general of the diocese of Atlacomulco, and at the same time pastor of the parish of “Santa María de Guadalupe”. He was also diocesan director of the missions and communications media, and spiritual director of pilgrimages.

On July 7, 2006 he was appointed as bishop of Ciudad Altamirano, receiving episcopal ordination the following 31 August 31.

The Holy Father has appointed as secretary of the Pontifical Council for Culture H.E. Msgr. Paul Tighe, titular bishop of Drivasto, current adjunct secretary of the same Pontifical Council for Culture.
