Appointment of auxiliary bishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Rev. Paulo Celso Dias do Nascimento, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, currently archdiocesan coordinator of health pastoral care, assigning him the titular see of Agunto.

The Rev. Paulo Celso Dias do Nascimento was born on 14 April 1963 in Lagarto, diocese of Estância, in the State of Sergipe.
He studied philosophy at the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Philosophy “João Paulo II” in Rio de Janeiro (1983-1984) and at the State University of Ceará (1985), and theology at the Catholic University of Salvador (1985-1988). He was ordained a priest on 13 May 1989, and was incardinated in the diocese of Estância, where he held the offices of parish vicar in Lagarto (1989-1992) and parish priest of “São Francisco de Assis”, in Cristinápolis (1993-1996).
In 1997 he was sent to continue his studies in Rio de Janeiro, where he obtained a licentiate in canon law at the Higher Institute of Canon Law, and then attended a course in psychology at the Pontifical Catholic University. He simultaneously exercised his ministry as vicar in the parish of “Nossa Senhora de Copacabana” and as chaplain of the “Beneficência Portuguesa” and then “Quinta d’Or” hospitals.
In 2012 he was incardinated in the archdiocese of Rio de Janeiro, where he is currently archdiocesan coordinator of health pastoral care and chaplain of the “Quinta d’Or” hospital.
