Decrees of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, 10.10.2017

On 9 October 2017, the Holy Father Francis received in audience H.E. Cardinal Angelo Amato, S.D.B., prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During the audience, the Holy Father authorised the same Congregation to promulgate the Decrees regarding:

- the martyrdom of the Servants of God Tullio Maruzzo (né Marcello), professed priest of the Order of Friars Minor, and Luis Obdulio Navarro, of the Third Order of Saint Francis, killed in hatred of the faith on 1 July 1981 near Los Amates, Guatemala;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God Donizetti Tavares de Lima, diocesan priest; born on 3 January 1882 in Cássia, Brazil, and died on 16 June 1961 in Tambaú, Brazil;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God Serafin Kaszuba (né Alojzy Kazimierz), professed priest of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin; born on 17 June 1910 in Zamarstynów, near Lviv (then Ukraine), and died on 20 September 1977 in Lviv, Ukraine;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God Magín Morera y Feixas, professed priest of the Congregation of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph; born on 16 November 1908 in Sant Matu de Bages, Spain, and died on 28 June 19814 in Barcelona, Spain;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God María Lorenza Requenses de Longo, founder of the Hospital of the Incurables in Naples and of the Capuchin Nuns; born in 1463 near Lleida, Spain, and died on 21 December 1539 in Naples, Italy;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God Françoise du Saint Esprit (née Caroline Baron), founder of the Third Order of Saint Francis in Montpellier; born on 12 December 1820 in Mailhac, France, and died on 28 December in Saint-Chinian, France;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God Elżbieta Róża Czacka, founder of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross; born on 22 October 1876 in Biała Cerkiew (now Ukraine), and died on 15 May 1961 in Laski, Poland;

- the heroic virtues of Servant of God Francesco Paolo Gravina, layperson, founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent; born on 5 February 1800 in Palermo, Italy, and died on 15 April in Palermo, Italy.
