Appointment of apostolic administrator of Kyrgyzstan
The Holy Father has appointed Rev. Fr. Anthony James Corcoran, S.J., currently in service in the Russian independent region of the Society of Jesus, to the office of apostolic administrator of the apostolic administration of Kyrgyzstan.
Rev. Fr. Anthony James Corcoran, S.J.
Fr. Anthony James Corcoran, S.J., was born on 19 April 1963 in Tucson, Arizona, United States of America. In 1985 he graduated in political sciences from the Marquette University of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States of America. In August 1985 he entered the Society of Jesus. In 1990 he obtained a Master’s degree in International Political Economics of Development from the Fordham University, New York.
From 1990 to 1992 he taught at the Jesuit High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1995 he graduated in theology from the Weston School of Theology in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In 1995 he received diaconal ordination. He was ordained a priest on 8 June 1996.
In 1997 he obtained a licentiate in spiritual theology from the Weston School of Theology, Massachusetts.
Since 1997 he has served in the Russian Federation, where he has held the following offices: director of the interdiocesan pre-seminary of Novosibirsk (1998-2000 and 2007-2008); spiritual director of the same pre-seminary (2001-2005); pastor of the parish of St. Joseph in Berdsk (diocese of the Transfiguration in Novosibirsk, 1998-2008); vicar general of the diocese of the Transfiguration in Novosibirsk (1999-2008); superior of the Russian independent region of the Society of Jesus (2009-2017).
In addition, in 2006 he completed his doctorate in theology at the Weston School of Theology, Massachusetts.
