Resignation of bishop of Palestrina, Italy, and appointment of apostolic administrator
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Casale Monferrato, Italy, presented by His Excellency Rev. Msgr. Alceste Catella.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of the diocese of Casale Monferrato, Italy, the Rev. Msgr. Gianni Sacchi, of the clergy of the diocese of Biella, currently vicar general and parish priest of the parish of Santa Maria Assunta a Vigliano Biellese.
Msgr. Gianni Sacchi
Msgr. Gianni Sacchi was born on 15 September 1960 in Trivero, in the diocese and province of Biella.
After receiving his high school diploma, he carried out his studies in theology at the diocesan seminary of Biella and then by attending causes on the Bachelor’s programme in the Theological Faculty of Turin.
He was ordained a priest on 28 April 1990, and incardinated in the diocese of Biella.
He was vicar of the parish of San Paolo, Biella, in 1999; from 1999 to the present day he has served as pastor of the parish of Santa Maria Assunta a Vigliano Biellese. From 2002 to 2008 he was pro-vicar general and from 2008 to the present, vicar general.
He is member of the college of consulters, the presbyteral council, the diocesan Council for Economic Affairs, and the diocesan pastoral council. He is president of the “Don A. Ferraris” Foundation, head of the Service for the Continuing Formation of the Clergy, head of the Office for Cultural Assets of the Church and for the Service for Buildings of Worship and canon of the Cathedral.
On 7 August 2003 he was named Chaplain of His Holiness.
