Press Release from the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, 13.06.2017
On Thursday 15 June 2017, the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, whose president is Cardinal Peter K. A. Turkson, in collaboration with the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences, is organizing an “International Debate on Corruption”, which will take place in the Vatican, at the Casina Pio IV, from 9.30 to 19.00.
It is the first meeting of an international group to reflect on this global problem, also in terms of its interrelations with organized crime and the mafias. The group brings together Christians and non-Christians, ecclesiastical and institutional figures, magistrates, police representatives, members of movements and organizations, victims of crime, journalists and intellectuals. Several ambassadors accredited to the Holy See will also attend the meeting, which will be followed by a press release. The day will end with a visit to the Sistine Chapel and the Room of the Segnatura to highlight, through the beauty of artistic heritage, the importance of the function of education in the commitment to justice and against corruption. It is to be noted that on 15 June, a book-interview with Cardinal Turkson with Vittorio V. Alberti, entitled “Corrosion”, with a preface by the Holy Father, will be published.
On the subject of the debate, social accounts have been opened on Twitter (@MichForJustice) and Facebook (Michelangelo for Justice), enabling interaction through the hashtag #MichelangeloForJustice. Further information can be obtained via e-mail at nocorruption@humandevelopment.va
