The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the archdiocese of Tucumán, Argentina, presented by His Excellency Msgr. Alfredo Horacio Zecca, at the same time transferring him to the titular see of Bolsena.

The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the diocese of Raphoe, Ireland, presented by His Excellency Msgr. Philip Boyce, O.C.D.
The Pope has appointed as bishop of Raphoe, Ireland, Rev. Fr. Alexander Aloysius (Alan) McGuckian, S.J., currently director of the Living Church Office of the diocese of Down and Connor.
Msgr. Alexander Aloysius (Alan) McGuckian, S.J.
Msgr. Alexander Aloysius (Alan) McGuckian, S.J., was born in Ballymena, in County Antrim, on 26 February 1953. He entered the Society of Jesus on 21 October 1972, obtaining a degree in Spanish and Latin from University College Dublin, and in philosophy at the Jesuit University Centre in Milltown Park, Dublin. He completed his studies in theology at Regis College, Toronto, and was in the meantime ordained a priest in Dublin on 22 June 1984. He spent the period of the third year in Tamil Nadu, India (1990-1991) and then gave his final vow in Dublin on 15 February 1997.
After ordination he held the following offices: prefect and teacher in Clongowes Wood College (1988-1989); director of vocations (1991-1992); director of the Jesuit Communications Centre in Dublin (1992-1996); superior of the Community of Jesuits of Leinster Road, Dublin (1996); editor of the Irish language magazine An Timire (1999), and superior of the Community of Jesuits in Belfast (2009).
From 2012 to the present he has served as director of the Living Church Office in the diocese of Down and Connor. In 2015 he became consulter of the Irish Province of the Society of Jesus.
