Appointment of auxiliary of Mercedes-Luján, Argentina
The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary of the archdiocese of Mercedes-Luján, Argentina, Rev. Jorge Eduardo Scheinig, pastor of San Gabriel de la Dolorosa in Vicente López, assigning the titular see of Ita.
Msgr. Jorge Eduardo Scheinig
Msgr. Jorge Eduardo Scheinig was born on 5 June 1959 in Carapachay, diocese of San Isidro. He was ordained a priest on 9 December 1983. He holds a licentiate in pastoral theology from the Pontifical University of Argentina.
As a priest he has held the following offices: diocesan assessor for youth, assessor for the National Youth Team of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, coordinator of the Pastoral Board of the diocese of San Isidro, consultor of the Commission of Faith and Culture of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, pastoral assessor of Caritas Argentina, pastoral director of the San Martín de Tours school in San Fernando and the San Gabriel school in Vicente López, coordinator of the urban pastoral team in Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires, and professor of pastoral theology in the seminary of the diocese of San Isidro and in the Faculty of Theology of the Catholic University of Argentina.
Additionally, he has served as vicar of the parish of Resurección del Señor in Martínez (1984-1990) and pastor of the parishes of San Pedro y San Pablo in San Fernando (1991-1997), Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu in San Fernando (1998-2008), and La Purísima in General Pacheco (2009-2010). He is currently pastor of the San Gabriel de la Dolorosa parish in Vicente López.
