The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins, Ukraine, the Rev. Eduard Kava, O.F.M. Conv., delegate of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual for Ukraine, assigning him the titular see of Cilibia.
Rev. Eduard Kava, O.F.M. Conv.
The Rev. Eduard Kava, O.F.M. Conv., was born on 17 April 1978 in Mostyska, archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins, Ukraine.
In 1996 he entered the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, and subsequently carried out his philosophical and theological studies at the “Mary Queen of Apostles” major seminary in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation), receiving priestly ordination on 1 June 2003.
From 2003 to 2004 he was vicar and subsequently pastor of the parish of Conventual Fathers in Boryspil, diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr. He then served as superior of the community of Conventual Fathers in Kremenchuk, diocese of Kamyanets-Podilskyi (2004-2009); parish priest and superior of the local community in Mackivci, diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia (2010-2012); and superior of the convent of Boryspil, diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr (2012-2016). Since 2016 he has served as guardian of the convent of the parish of St. Anthony in Lviv (archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins).
Since 2008 he is also delegate of the Order of Friars Minor Conventual for Ukraine and since 2012, vice president of the Conference of Major Superiors of Ukraine.
