Appointment of bishop of Kyiv-Zhytomyr, Ukraine
The Holy Father has appointed as bishop of Kyiv-Zhytomyr, Ukraine, Rev. Vitaliy Krivitskiy, S.D.B, pastor of the parish of St. Peter in Odessa.
Rev. Vitaliy Krivitskiy, S.D.B.
The Rev. Vitaliy Krivitskiy, S.D.B., was born on 19 August 1972 in Odessa, Ukraine.
In 1987 he undertook a path of clandestine religious formation in his city of birth, under the guidance of Rev. Don Taddeo Hoppe, S.D.B. In 1990 he entered the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco.
He subsequently prepared for priesthood in the major seminary of Krakow, Poland, and was ordained a priest on 24 May 1997.
From 1997 to 2004 he was a parish vicar in Odessa (diocese of Odessa-Simferopol). From 2004 to 2012 he served as parish priest and director of the local Salesian community in Korostyshiv (diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr). From 2012 to 2014 he was director of the oratory and parish vicar in Peremyshlany (archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins). Since 2014 he has served as pastor of the parish of St. Peter in Odessa (diocese of Odessa-Simferopol).
