Resignations and Appointments, 07.04.2017

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Ostrava-Opava, Czech Republic, Rev. Msgr. Martin David, currently vicar general of the same diocese, assigning him the titular see of Tucca di Numidia.

Rev. Msgr. Martin David

The Rev. Msgr. Martin David was born on 15 August 1970 in Čeladná.

After his high school examinations he worked in an automobile construction firm and subsequently completed his military service.

From 1993 to 2000 he studied at the Faculty of Theology of the Sts. Cyril and Methodius of the University of Palacký in Olomouc, and received priestly ordination on 24 June 2000 for the diocese of Ostrava-Opava.

In the diocese he has held the following offices: vicar of the parish of the Virgin Mary of Opava and chaplain for the young for the vicariate forane of Opava (2000-2002); parish administrator in Stěbořice and administrator excurrendo in the parish of Hlavnice (2002-2002); pastor of the parish of Stěbořice (2005-2008), secretary of the diocese liturgical Commission (since 2006); vicar general of the diocese; member of the College of Consulters and the Presbyteral Council (since 2008).

On 12 January 2012 he was named Chaplain of His Holiness.
