Appointment of auxiliary bishop of Saint Louis, U.S.A.

The Holy Father has appointed as auxiliary bishop of Saint Louis, U.S.A., Msgr. Mark S. Rivituso, of the clergy of the same archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Turuzi. Msgr. Rivituso is currently vicar general.

Msgr. Mark S. Rivituso

Msgr. Mark S. Rivituso was born on 20 September 1961 in Saint Louis, Missouri, in the same archdiocese. After attending the “Saint Mary High School” in Saint Louis, he carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the “Cardinal Glennon College Seminary” and the “Kenrick Seminary” in Saint Louis. He subsequently obtained a licentiate in canon law from the “Saint Paul” University of Ottawa, Canada (1996).

He was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Saint Louis on 16 January 1988.

Following priestly ordination, he has the following offices: vicar of the “Saint Ambrose Parish” in Saint Louis (1988-1990) and the “Immaculate Conception Parish” in Dardenne Prairie (1990-1993); teacher in the “Saint Dominic High School” in O’Fallon (1990-1993); administrator of the “Saint Margaret of Scotland Parish” in Saint Louis (1993-1994); member of the Metropolitan Tribunal (1993-1994 and 1996-2004); vicar of the “Saint Jerome Parish” in Bissell Hills (1996-2004); in residence at the “Saint Gabriel the Archangel Parish” in Saint Louis (2004-2008); judicial vicar of the appeals tribunal (2005-2011); pastor of the “Curé of Ars Parish” in Shrewsbury (2008-2013), vicar general (since 2011) in residence at the “Assumption Parish” in Webster Groves (since 2013).

In 2005 he was named Prelate of Honour.
