The Holy Father has appointed Msgr. Pedro Collar Noguera, auxiliary of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, as bishop of San Jan Bautista de la Misiones (area 21,700, population 234,700, Catholics 231,000, priests 36, permanent deacons 2, religious 70), Paraguay. He succeeds Bishop Mario Melanio Medina Salinas, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same diocese was accepted by the Holy Father.
