The Holy Father has:
- appointed Fr. Juan Manuel González Sandoval, M.N.M., as bishop of Tarahamura (area 31,353, population 385,030, Catholics 335,847, priests 43, religious 143), Mexico. The bishop-elect was born in 1964 in Guáscuaro, Mexico, gave his religious vows in 1990, and was ordained a priest in 1991. He studied theology in the major seminary of the archdiocese of Léon, and holds a degree in science of education, specialising in pedagogy for the formation of vocations, from the Pontfical Salesian University, Rome. He has served in a the following pastoral roles: chaplain in Montaña de Cristo Rey, Cubilete (1991-1992); formator in the minor and major seminary of Santa Ana del Conde, Guanajuato (1992-1993); coordinator of vocational pastoral ministry of the Missionary Congregation of the Nativity of Mary (1993-1998); and lecturer and formation in ethics and pedagogy in the seminary of the congregation and chaplain in various Religious Houses in Léon (2001-2008). Since 2008 he has served as pastor of the parish of Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Sanjuanito, Chihuahua, in Tarahumara; coordinator of permanent formation of the Missionaries of the Nativity of Mary; diocesan coordinator of catechesis; member of the presbyteral council; and coordinator of the commission for prophetic pastoral ministry of the ecclesiastical province of Chihuahua.
- accepted the resignation from the office of auxiliary of the Patriarchal diocese of Jerusalem of the Latins, presented by Archbishop Maroun Elias Lahham.
