Vatican City, 22 June 2016 – The Holy Father appointed:
- Bishop Christopher Cardone, O.P., of Auki, Solomon Islands, as archbishop of Honiara (area 10,728, population 271,442, Catholics 60,312, priests 48, religious 100), Solomon Islands. He succeeds Archbishop Adrian Thomas Smith, S.M., whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same archdiocese, upon reaching the age limit, was accepted by the Holy Father.
- Bishop Mário Antônio Da Silva, auxiliary of Manaus, Brazil, as bishop of Roraima (area 224,300, population 365,000, Catholics 224,700, priests 49, permanent deacons 2, religious 83), Brazil.
- Bishop Paulo Cezar Costa, auxiliary of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil,as bishop of São Carlos (area 13,056, population 1,230,400, Catholics 833,000, priests 152, permanent deacons 43, religious 119), Brazil.
- Msgr. Guido Mazzotta, dean of the faculty of philosophy of the Pontifical Urbanian University, Rome, as prelate secretary and ordinary member of the Pontifical Academy of St. Thomas Aquinas.
