Vatican City, 5 April 2016 – The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Rrok Gjonlleshaj as archbishop of Bar (area 43,000, population 629,000, Catholics 11,155, priests 14, religious 37), Montenegro. The bishop-elect was born in Velezh, Montenegro in 1961 and was ordained a priest in 1987. He has exercised his pastoral ministry in a number of parishes, first as vicar and then as parish priest, and has served as director of Radio Maria, a local Catholic radio station, and contributor to the religious and cultural journal DRITA. He is currently pastor of the parish of St. Antonio in Prishtina and bursar of the apostolic administration of Prizren. He succeeds Archbishop Zef Gashi, whose resignation from the pastoral care of the same archdiocese upon reaching the age limit was accepted by the Holy Father.
