AI Ethics for Peace: Le religioni del mondo firmano la Rome Call

Undici religioni del mondo, sedici nuovi firmatari, tredici nazioni presenti, oltre 150 partecipanti: sono alcuni dei numeri di AI Ethics for Peace, lo storico evento multireligioso tenutosi a Hiroshima, in Giappone, il 9 e il 10 luglio.
L’evento è stato salutato dal Santo Padre Francesco con un tweet e un messaggio dedicato, nel quale si legge: “Includere nel governo delle intelligenze artificiali le ricchezze culturali dei popoli e delle religioni è una chiave strategica per il successo del vostro impegno per una saggia gestione dell’innovazione tecnologica”.
Oggi, 10 luglio, leader religiosi in rappresentanza di varie religioni del mondo orientale (buddhismo, induismo, zoroastrismo, Bahá’í e molte altre), accompagnati dai leader delle religioni abramitiche (cristiani, ebrei e musulmani), hanno firmato la Rome Call for AI Ethics nella suggestiva cornice del Peace Memorial Park di Hiroshima.
È stato così sottoscritto dai nuovi firmatari, alla presenza dei massimi rappresentanti del Governo giapponese e delle big tech Microsoft, IBM e Cisco, l’appello che chiede l’applicazione, nel campo dell’AI, di una algoretica, ovvero di un’etica by design (dal momento della progettazione).
Secondo quanto riportato dal Pew Research Center, l’85% della popolazione mondiale si riconosce in una tradizione religiosa. Leader rappresentanti di tutte le maggiori religioni hanno sottoscritto la Rome Call for AI Ethics. Questo rende la piattaforma della Rome Call rappresentativa della maggior parte delle persone sul pianeta.
Nel secondo giorno di evento, i partner organizzatori (Pontificia Accademia per la Vita, Religions for Peace Japan, Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, Commissione per le relazioni interreligiose del Gran Rabbinato di Israele) hanno presentato un documento nominato Hiroshima Appeal, nel quale, oltre a ribadire la necessità di utilizzare l’AI solo per il bene dell’umanità e del pianeta, si esorta la comunità internazionale a ricorrere a mezzi pacifici per risolvere qualsiasi contrasto, in modo da ottenere l'immediata cessazione di tutti i conflitti armati.

AI Ethics for Peace: World Religions commit to the Rome Call
Hiroshima, Japan - July 10th, 2024
Eleven World Religions, sixteen new signatories, thirteen nations in attendance, more than 150 participants: these are some of the numbers of AI Ethics for Peace, the historic multi-religious event held in Hiroshima, Japan, on July 9th and 10th.
The event was greeted by Pope Francis with a dedicated tweet and a message, which read, "Recognizing the contribution of the cultural riches of peoples and religions in the regulation of artificial intelligence is key to the success of your commitment to the wise management of technological innovation."
Today, July 10th, religious leaders representing various faiths of the Eastern world (such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Bahá'í and many other), accompanied by leaders of the Abrahamic religions (Christians, Jews and Muslims), signed the Rome Call for AI Ethics in the evocative venue of Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park.
The new signatories, in the presence of top representatives of the Japanese Government and of big tech Microsoft, IBM and Cisco, signed the Call which urges the application, in the field of AI, of algorethics, i.e. ethics by design.
The Pew Research Center reports that 85 percent of the world's population identifies with a religious tradition. Leaders representing all major religions have signed the Rome Call for AI Ethics. This makes the Rome Call platform representative of most people on the planet.
On the second day of the event, the organizing partners (Pontifical Academy for Life, Religions for Peace Japan, Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace of the United Arab Emirates, Commission for Interreligious Relations of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel) presented a document named Hiroshima Appeal, in which, in addition to reiterating the need to use AI only for the good of humanity and the planet, they urged the international community to use peaceful ways to resolve any conflict in order to achieve an immediate cessation of all armed conflicts.
