L’undicesima congregazione si è svolta nel pomeriggio di oggi, con inizio alle ore 17:00, aperta da un momento di preghiera comune. 

I presenti erano circa 170, di cui 132 cardinali elettori. 

Una ventina gli interventi concentrati su temi di grande rilevanza pastorale ed ecclesiale. È dedicato tempo alla questione dell’etnicismo all’interno della Chiesa e della società. 

Si è parlato della migrazione, riconoscendo nei migranti un dono per la Chiesa, ma anche sottolineando l’urgenza di accompagnarli e sostenere la loro fede nei contesti di mobilità e cambiamento. 

In più occasioni sono state richiamate le guerre in atto, con toni spesso segnati dalla testimonianza diretta di cardinali provenienti da regioni colpite da conflitti.

Si è tornato a parlare del cammino del Sinodo sulla sinodalità, visto come espressione concreta di un’ecclesiologia di comunione, nella quale tutti sono chiamati a partecipare, ascoltare e discernere insieme.

È stato ribadito l’impegno e la responsabilità dei cardinali nel sostenere il nuovo Papa, chiamato a essere un vero pastore, una guida che sappia andare oltre i confini della sola Chiesa cattolica, promuovendo il dialogo e la costruzione di rapporti con altri mondi religiosi e culturali. 

È stata anche richiamata la sfida rappresentata dalla diffusione delle sette in varie parti del mondo. 

Oggi pomeriggio si è svolto nella Cappella Paolina, Prima Loggia del Palazzo apostolico, il giuramento degli officiali e addetti al Conclave, sia ecclesiastici che laici.

La sessione si è conclusa alle ore 19:00. 

La dodicesima Congregazione generale dei Cardinali è prevista per domani mattina alle ore 9:00.

The eleventh Congregation took place this afternoon, beginning at 17.00, opened by a moment of joint prayer.

There were 170 Cardinals present, of whom 132 were Electors.

There were approximately twenty contributions, focused on themes of major pastoral and ecclesial relevance. Time was devoted to the question of ethnicism within the Church and in society.

Migration was discussed, recognizing migrants as a gift for the Church, but also highlighting the urgency of accompanying them and supporting their faith in contexts of mobility and change.

The ongoing wars were referred to on several occasions, with tones often marked by direct testimonies from Cardinals who come from the regions affected by conflicts.

The discussion returned to the subject of the path of the Synod on synodality, seen as a concrete expression of an ecclesiology of communion, in which everyone is called to participate, listen and discern together.

The Cardinals reaffirmed their commitment and responsibility to support the new Pope, called to be a true pastor, a guide who knows how to go beyond the confines of the Catholic Church alone, promoting dialogue and building relationships with other religious and cultural worlds.

Reference was also made to the challenge represented by the spread of sects in various parts of the world.

This afternoon, in the Papal Chapel, First Loggia of the Apostolic Palace, the officials and staff of the Conclave, both ecclesiastical and lay, took their oath.

The session concluded at 19.00.
