Nel pomeriggio di oggi, il Santo Padre Leone XIV ha ricevuto una telefonata da parte di S.E. il Sig. Isaac Herzog, Presidente dello Stato d’Israele, in occasione delle imminenti festività natalizie e della festa ebraica di Hanukkah.

Durante il colloquio, alla luce del recente attentato terroristico a Sydney, il Santo Padre ha ribadito la ferma condanna della Chiesa Cattolica verso ogni forma di antisemitismo, che in tutto il mondo continua a seminare paura nelle comunità ebraiche e nell’intera società.

Inoltre, il Santo Padre ha rinnovato il Suo appello affinché si perseveri nei processi di pace in corso nella regione, soffermandosi anche sull’urgenza di intensificare e proseguire gli sforzi in materia di aiuti umanitari.

This afternoon, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV received a telephone call from His Excellency Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel, on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas holidays and of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.

During the conversation, in light of the recent terrorist attack in Sydney, the Holy Father reiterated the Catholic Church’s firm condemnation of all forms of antisemitism, which, throughout the world, continues to sow fear in Jewish communities and in society as a whole.

Moreover, the Holy Father renewed his appeal for perseverance in the various ongoing peace processes in the region, and emphasized the urgency of intensifying and continuing efforts in the area of humanitarian aid.
