DECRETUM
de formulario et lectionibus adhibendis
in Missa “pro custodia creationis”
“Laudant te opera tua, ut amemus te, et amamus te, ut laudent te opera tua” (Augustinus, Confessionum libri XIII, 13,33).
Creationis mysterium est exordium historiæ salutis quæ in Christo culmen habet, et a Christi mysterio lucem decisivam accipit; nam, patefaciens suam bonitatem, “in principio creavit Deus cælum et terram” (Gen 1,1) quia iam ab initio gloriam novæ creationis in Christo intendebat.
Sacra Scriptura homines exhortatur ut mysterium creationis contemplent et gratias indesinenter Sanctissimæ Trinitati agant pro hoc benevolentiæ eius signo, quod, ad instar pretiosi thesauri, amandum, custodiendum simul et provehendum est, nencon tradendum a generatione in generationem.
Hoc autem tempore, perspicue patet operam creationis graviter in discrimen adduci propter insanum usum bonorumque nostris curis a Deo commissorum abusum.
Qua de causa, opportunum videtur formularium Missæ “pro custodia creationis” Missis pro variis necessitatibus vel ad diversa Missalis Romani addere.
In Eucharistia “mundus, qui de manibus Dei exivit, ad Eum revertitur in iucunda plenaque adoratione. In Pane eucharistico ‘creatio protenditur ad deificationem, ad sanctas nuptias, ad unitatem obtinendam cum ipso Creatore’. Ideo Eucharistia est quoque fons lucis rationisque pro nostris sollicitudinibus de ambitu, et nos dirigit ut custodes simus totius creati” (Laudato si’ n. 236).
Hoc formularium una cum idoneis lectionibus biblicis, lingua latina exaratum et huic Decreto adnexum, Summus Pontifex LEO XIV approbavit evulgarique iussit et Dicasterium de Cultu Divino et Disciplina Sacramentorum nunc promulgat atque typicum esse declarat.

Formulario e letture bibliche
per la Messa per la custodia della creazione
“Le tue opere ti lodano (cf. Pr 31,31; Dn 3,57), affinché ti amiamo, e noi ti amiamo affinché ti lodino le tue opere (Agostino, Le Confessioni, 13,33)
Il mistero della creazione è l’inizio della storia della salvezza, che culmina in Cristo e dal mistero di Cristo riceve la luce decisiva; infatti, manifestando la propria bontà, “in principio, Dio creò il cielo e la terra” (Gen 1,1) poiché fin dalle origini pensava alla gloria della nuova creazione in Cristo.
La Sacra Scrittura esorta gli uomini a contemplare il mistero della creazione e a rendere grazie senza fine alla Santissima Trinità per questo segno della Sua benevolenza, che, come un tesoro prezioso, va amato, custodito e contemporaneamente fatto progredire, nonché tramandato di generazione in generazione.
In questo tempo appare evidente che l’opera della creazione è seriamente minacciata a causa dell’uso irresponsabile e dell’abuso dei beni che Dio ha affidato alla nostra cura (cfr. Laudato si’ n. 2).
Per questo motivo si ritiene opportuno aggiungere alle Missae “pro variis necessitatibus vel ad diversa” del Messale Romano il formulario della Missa “pro custodia creationis”.
Nell’Eucaristia “il mondo, che è uscito dalle mani di Dio, ritorna a Lui in gioiosa e piena adorazione: nel Pane eucaristico ‘la creazione è protesa verso la divinizzazione, verso le sante nozze, verso l’unificazione con il Creatore stesso’ (Benedetto XVI, Omelia nella Messa del Corpus Domini, 15 giugno 2006). Perciò l’Eucaristia è anche fonte di luce e di motivazione per le nostre preoccupazioni per l’ambiente, e ci orienta ad essere custodi di tutto il creato” (Laudato si’ n. 236).
Il Sommo Pontefice LEONE XIV ha approvato e dato ordine di divulgare questo formulario insieme con le adeguate letture bibliche, redatto in lingua latina e allegato al presente Decreto, e ora il Dicastero per il Culto Divino e la Disciplina dei Sacramenti lo promulga e lo dichiara testo tipico.

The mystery of creation is the beginning of salvation history, which culminates in Christ and from the mystery of Christ it receives definitive light; in fact, by manifesting His goodness, “in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen 1,1) God already from these origins had in mind the glory of the new creation in Christ.
Sacred Scripture exhorts humankind to contemplate the mystery of creation and to give endless thanks to the Holy Trinity for this sign of His benevolence, which, like a precious treasure, is to be loved, cherished and simultaneously advanced, as well as handed down from generation to generation.
At this time it is evident that the work of creation is seriously threatened because of the irresponsible use and abuse of the goods God has endowed to our care (cf. Laudato si’ n. 2).
This is why it is considered appropriate to add a Mass formulary “pro custodia creationis” to the Missae “pro variis necessitatibus vel ad diversa” of the Roman Missal.
In the Eucharist “The world which came forth from God’s hands returns to him in blessed and undivided adoration: in the bread of the Eucharist, ‘creation is projected towards divinization, towards the holy wedding feast, towards unification with the Creator himself’ (Benedict XVI, Homily for the Mass of Corpus Domini, 15 June 2006). Thus, the Eucharist is also a source of light and motivation for our concerns for the environment, directing us to be stewards of all creation” (Laudato si’ n. 236).
The Supreme Pontiff LEO XIV approved this formulary along with appropriate biblical readings, drawn up in Latin and attached to this Decree, and ordered that they be disseminated, and now the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments promulgates it and declares it to be the typical text.
