Nel desiderio di promuovere la cura pastorale del gregge del Signore e per attendere più efficacemente al suo bene spirituale, il Sommo Pontefice Francesco ha deciso di costituire nella Cina Continentale la diocesi di Chengde, suffraganea di Beijing, con sede episcopale nella chiesa cattedrale di Gesù Buon Pastore, sita nella Divisione Amministrativa di Shuangluan, “Città di Chengde”.
Una parte rilevante del territorio della nuova Diocesi è appartenuta anticamente al vicariato apostolico della Mongolia Orientale, eretto il 21 dicembre 1883 ed elevato a diocesi di Jehol/Jinzhou con la Bolla Quotidie Nos di Papa Pio XII dell’11 aprile 1946.
La nuova circoscrizione ecclesiastica si trova nella provincia di Hebei. Il territorio è quello compreso negli attuali confini amministrativi civili della “Città di Chengde” e include, perciò, otto Distretti rurali (Chengde, Xinglong, Pingquan, Luanping, Longhua, Fengning, Kuancheng e Weichang) e tre Divisioni Amministrative (Shuangqiao, Shuangluan e Yingshouyingzikuang).
Di conseguenza, vengono modificati i confini ecclesiastici delle diocesi di Jehol/Jinzhou e di Chifeng, in quanto una porzione del loro territorio viene assegnata ora alla nuova diocesi di Chengde. Questa ha un’area di 39.519 Km² e una popolazione di circa 3,7 milioni di abitanti. Secondo dati recenti, vi sono circa 25.000 cattolici, distribuiti in 12 parrocchie, nelle quali prestano servizio pastorale 7 sacerdoti, una decina religiose e alcuni seminaristi.

承德教区
为促进对主羊群的牧灵照顾并为更有效地期待它的神益，教宗方济各决定在中国大陆成立承德教区，乃北京的省属教区，其主教座堂设在“承德市”双滦区的耶稣善牧教堂。
该新教区一大部分的地域原属于旧时1883年12月21日成立的东蒙古宗座代牧区，1946年4月11日教宗比约十二世颁布《我们的每一天》敕令，将它升格为热河∕锦州教区。
承德教区位于河北省境内。它的地域范围与目前“承德市”的行政管辖范围相同，包括八个县（承德、兴隆、平泉、滦平、隆化、丰宁、宽城和围场）及三个区（双桥、双滦和鹰手营子矿）。

Desiring to promote the pastoral care of the Lord’s flock and to attend with greater efficacy to its spiritual good, the Supreme Pontiff Pope Francis has decided to constitute in China the Diocese of Chengde, which will be suffragan to the See of Beijing, with the church of Jesus the Good Shepherd, situated in the Administrative Division of Shuangluan, “Chengde City”, as its Cathedral.
A significant part of the territory of the new Diocese belonged historically to the Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern Mongolia, erected on the 21st December 1883 and elevated to the Diocese of Jehol/Jinzhou with the Bull Quotidie Nos of Pope Pius XII on the 11th April 1946.
The new ecclesiastical circumscription is found in the province of Hebei. Its territory is defined by the current civil boundaries of “Chengde City” and thus includes eight rural Districts (Chengde, Xinglong, Pingquan, Luanping, Longhua, Fengning, Kuancheng and Weichang) and three Administrative Divisions (Shuangqiao, Shuangluan and Yingshouyingzikuang).
As a result, the ecclesiastical boundaries of the Dioceses of Jehol/Jinzhou and of Chifeng are being modified, in that a portion of the territory of each now becomes part of the new Diocese of Chengde. This latter has an area of 39,519 km2 with a population of about 3.7 million inhabitants, of whom, according to recent estimates, about 25,000 are Catholics, living in 12 parishes and served by 7 priests, a dozen religious women and some seminarians.
