I membri della Commissione Cardinalizia di vigilanza dell’Istituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR) hanno nominato il Cardinale Santos Abril y Castelló come loro Presidente.

In base allo Statuto dell’Istituto, i membri della Commissione Cardinalizia sono nominati dal Santo Padre per un periodo di cinque anni. La Commissione Cardinalizia è convocata dal Cardinale Presidente almeno due volte l'anno. Essa esamina le relazioni sui principali processi di business e la strategia generale, presentate dal Presidente del Consiglio di Sovrintendenza. Infine, essa vigila sulla fedeltà alle disposizioni statutarie e nomina i membri del Consiglio di Sovrintendenza.

L’attuale Commissione Cardinalizia è stata nominata dal Santo Padre nel gennaio 2014 ed è composta dai Cardinali: Santos Abril y Castelló (Arciprete della Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore), Thomas Christopher Collins (Arcivescovo di Toronto), Pietro Parolin (Segretario di Stato), Christoph Schönborn (Arcivescovo di Vienna) e Jean-Louis Tauran (Presidente del Pontificio Consiglio per il Dialogo Inter-Religioso).

Cardinal Santos Abril y Castelló nominated President of the IOR Cardinals’ Commission overseeing

The members of the Cardinals’ Commission overseeing the Istituto per le Opere di Religione (IOR) have nominated Cardinal Santos Abril y Castelló as their President.

According to the Institute’s Statutes, the members of the Cardinals’ Commission are appointed by the Holy Father for a period of five years. The Cardinals’ Commission is called to meet by its President at least twice a year. It reviews reports on major business processes and strategy presented by the President of the Board of Superintendence. The Commission further oversees the Institute’s adherence to statutory norms and appoints the members of the Board of Superintendence.

The Institute’s current Cardinals’ Commission was appointed in January 2014 by the Holy Father and is composed of Cardinal Santos Abril y Castelló (Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of St Mary Major), Cardinal Thomas Christopher Collins (Archbishop of Toronto), Cardinal Pietro Parolin (Secretary of State), Cardinal Christoph Schönborn (Archbishop of Vienna) and Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran (President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue).
