Following to the resumption of the bilateral negotiations between the Holy See and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), an official meeting took place at the headquarters of the Palestinian President in Ramallah on the 28^th of January 2012.
The talks were co-chaired by Msg. Ettore Balestrero, Under-Secretary for the Holy See’s relations with States and Minister Ziad Al-Bandak, Palestinian President’s advisor for Christian relations.
The Palestinian side handed to the Holy See Delegation the response to the draft agreement proposed by the Holy See in the previous meeting, and the talks took place in a positive atmosphere to strengthen further the special relations between the two sides. The Delegations agreed to set-up technical teams to follow up on the draft, in preparation of the plenary session in the Vatican City in the near future.
The Holy See Delegation was composed of H.E. Archbishop Antonio Franco, Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine, Msgr. Maurizio Malvestiti, Under-Secretary of the Congregation for Oriental Churches, Msgr. Alberto Ortega, Official of the Secretariat of the State of the Holy See, Msgr. Waldemar Stanislaw Sommertag, Counsellor of the Apostolic Delegation in Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Delegation was composed of Dr. Nabil Shaath, Member of the Fatah’s Central Committee, Dr. Bernard Sabella, Member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Mr. Issa Kassissieh, Deputy Head of PLO’s Negotiations Affairs Department, and Mr. Wassim Khazmo, Policy Advisor at PLO’s Negotiations Support Unit.

In seguito alla ripresa dei colloqui bilaterali fra la Santa Sede e l’Organizzazione per la Liberazione della Palestina (OLP), si è svolto un incontro ufficiale presso la sede del Presidente palestinese, a Ramallah, il 28 gennaio 2012.
I colloqui sono stati presieduti congiuntamente da Mons. Ettore Balestrero, Sotto-Segretario per i Rapporti con gli Stati, e dal Ministro Ziad Al-Bandak, Consigliere del Presidente Palestinese per le Relazioni con i Cristiani.
La Parte palestinese ha consegnato alla Delegazione della Santa Sede la risposta alla bozza d’accordo proposta dalla Santa Sede nell’incontro precedente e i colloqui si sono svolti in un’atmosfera cordiale per rafforzare ulteriormente le speciali relazioni tra le due Parti. Le Delegazioni hanno deciso di stabilire squadre tecniche per dar seguito alla bozza, in preparazione alla riunione plenaria che si terrà prossimamente in Vaticano.
La Delegazione della Santa Sede era composta da: S.E. Mons. Antonio Franco, Delegato Apostolico a Gerusalemme e in Palestina; Mons. Maurizio Malvestiti, Sotto-Segretario della Congregazione per le Chiese Orientali; Mons. Alberto Ortega, Officiale della Segreteria di Stato; Mons. Waldemar Sommertag, Consigliere della Delegazione Apostolica a Gerusalemme.
La Delegazione Palestinese era composta da: Dott. Nabil Shath, Membro del Comitato Centrale di Fatah; Dott. Bernard Sabella, Membro del Consiglio Legislativo Palestinese; Sig. Issa Kassissieh, Vice-Capo del Dipartimento per i Negoziati dell’OLP e il Sig. Wassim Khazmo, Consigliere politico dell’Unità di Appoggio ai Negoziati dell’OLP.
