Heute abend hat sich Papst Benedikt XVI. in den Räumen des Erfurter Priesterseminars mit einer Gruppe von Opfern sexuellen Mißbrauchs durch Priester und kirchliche Mitarbeiter getroffen. Anschließend begrüßte er einige Personen, die sich um die Leidtragenden derartiger Verbrechen kümmern.
Bewegt und erschüttert von der Not der Mißbrauchsopfer hat der Heilige Vater sein tiefes Mitgefühl und Bedauern bekundet für alles, was ihnen und ihren Familien angetan wurde. Er hat den Anwesenden versichert, daß den Verantwortlichen in der Kirche an der Aufarbeitung aller Mißbrauchsdelikte gelegen ist und sie darum bemüht sind, wirksame Maßnahmen zum Schutz von Kindern und Jugendlichen zu fördern. Papst Benedikt XVI. ist den Opfern nahe und bringt seine Hoffnung zum Ausdruck, daß der barmherzige Gott, der Schöpfer und Erlöser aller Menschen, die Wunden der Mißbrauchten heilen und ihnen inneren Frieden schenken möge.

This evening, in the seminary at Erfurt, Pope Benedict XVI met with a group of victims of sexual abuse committed by priests and church personnel. Subsequently he greeted some people who care for those injured by these crimes.
Moved and deeply shaken by the sufferings of the victims, the Holy Father expressed his deep compassion and regret over all that was done to them and their families. He assured the people present that those in positions of responsibility in the Church are seriously concerned to deal with all crimes of abuse and are committed to the promotion of effective measures for the protection of children and young people. Pope Benedict XVI is close to the victims and he expresses the hope that the merciful God, Creator and Redeemer of all mankind, may heal the wounds of the victims and grant them inner peace.

Questa sera, nel Seminario di Erfurt, Benedetto XVI si è incontrato con un gruppo di vittime di abusi sessuali commessi da sacerdoti e impiegati ecclesiali. Successivamente ha salutato alcuni uomini e donne che si prendono cura di persone colpite da tali crimini.
Commosso e fortemente scosso dalla sofferenza delle vittime, il Santo Padre ha espresso la sua profonda compassione e il suo profondo rammarico per tutto ciò che è stato commesso nei loro confronti e delle loro famiglie. Ha assicurato i presenti che a quanti hanno responsabilità nella Chiesa sta molto a cuore affrontare accuratamente tutti i crimini di abuso ed essi si impegnano a promuovere misure efficaci per la tutela di bambini e giovani. Papa Benedetto XVI è vicino alle vittime e manifesta la propria speranza che Dio misericordioso, Creatore e Redentore di tutti gli uomini, voglia sanare le ferite delle persone abusate e donare loro pace interiore.
