Oggi, lunedì 28 febbraio 2011, il Presidente del Parlamento Europeo, On. Jerzy Buzek, è stato ricevuto in Udienza da Sua Santità Benedetto XVI e, successivamente, si è incontrato con Sua Eminenza il Cardinale Tarcisio Bertone, Segretario di Stato, che era accompagnato da Sua Eccellenza Mons. Dominique Mamberti, Segretario per i Rapporti con gli Stati.
I colloqui, svoltisi in un clima di cordialità, hanno permesso un utile scambio di opinioni sulle relazioni fra la Chiesa cattolica, il Parlamento Europeo e le altre istituzioni europee, nonché sul contributo che la Chiesa può offrire all’Unione.
Nel corso dell’incontro ci si è soffermati anche su temi di attualità quali l’impegno per la promozione della libertà religiosa e la tutela delle minoranze cristiane nel mondo.

Today, Monday 28 February 2011, the Holy Father Benedict XVI received in audience Jerzey Buzek, president of the European Parliament. The president subsequently went on to meet with Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone S.D.B. who was accompanied by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, secretary for Relations with States.
The discussions, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, provided an opportunity for a fruitful exchange of opinions concerning relations between the Catholic Church, the European Parliament and other European institutions, as well as the contribution the Church can make to the Union.
In the course of the meeting attention also turned to questions of current affairs, such as commitment to promoting religious freedom and the protection of Christian minorities in the world.
