A seguito dell’incontro tenutosi in Vaticano il 21 novembre tra Papa Benedetto XVI e l’Arcivescovo di Canterbury, Dott. Rowan Williams, nel corso del quale essi hanno ribadito il desiderio di rafforzare le relazioni ecumeniche tra anglicani e cattolici, il 23 novembre si è riunito un Comitato preparatorio per approntare la terza fase della "Commissione Internazionale tra anglicani e cattolici" (ARCIC, Anglican - Roman Catholic International Commission). È stato deciso che questa nuova fase avrà inizio entro il prossimo anno.
Nella terza fase si tratteranno questioni fondamentali riguardanti la Chiesa - Chiesa locale e Chiesa universale - intesa come comunione, e del modo in cui la Chiesa, locale e universale, possa discernere, nella comunione, il giusto insegnamento morale.
Nei prossimi mesi verranno nominati i membri della Commissione e sarà annunciata la data del suo primo incontro.

Following the meeting between Pope Benedict XVI and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, at the Vatican on 21 November 2009, at which they reaffirmed their desire to strengthen ecumenical relations between Anglicans and Roman Catholics, a preparatory committee met on 23 November 2009 to prepare the third phase of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC). It has been decided that this phase will begin within the coming year.
This third phase will deal with fundamental questions regarding the Church as Communion Local and Universal, and how in communion the local and universal Church comes to discern right ethical teaching.
Over the coming months members will be nominated to the Commission, and a date for its first meeting will be announced.
