Oggi, nel Palazzo Apostolico Vaticano, il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha ricevuto in Udienza il Segretario Generale della Lega degli Stati Arabi, S.E. Sig. Amre Moussa. In precedenza, il Sig. Moussa, insieme all’Ecc.mo Segretario per i Rapporti con gli Stati, Mons. Dominique Mamberti, aveva proceduto alla firma di un Memorandum of Understanding tra la Segreteria di Stato e la menzionata Organizzazione araba.

Nel corso dei cordiali colloqui è stata sottolineata l’importanza dell’Accordo, inteso a favorire una sempre maggiore collaborazione tra le due Parti in favore della pace e della giustizia nel mondo. Particolare rilievo è stato dato al ruolo del dialogo interculturale ed interreligioso.

Non è mancato, infine, uno scambio di idee sulla situazione internazionale, soprattutto in Medio Oriente, e sulla necessità di trovare una giusta soluzione al conflitto israeliano-palestinese e agli altri conflitti che travagliano la regione.

Today, in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI received in Audience the Secretary General of the League of Arab States, His Excellency Mr Amre Moussa. Previously, Mr Moussa and Archbishop Dominique Mamberti, Secretary for Relations with States, had signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Secretariat of State and the Arab organization.

During the cordial meetings, emphasis was placed on the importance of the agreement, which is intended to foster increased cooperation between the two Parties with a view to promoting peace and justice in the world. Particular importance was given to the role of intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

Finally, there was an exchange of views on the international situation, especially in the Middle East, and on the need to find a just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to the other conflicts which afflict the region.
