In the face of the unrelenting conflict in the Gaza strip, which has provoked a major humanitarian crisis, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI has affirmed several times His closeness to our brothers and sisters, who have already suffered so much.
In His name, the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, the Dicastery of the Holy See entrusted with implementing the charitable initiatives of the Holy Father, has sent a personal concrete sign to aid the relief efforts of the small but fervent Catholic presence in Gaza. It is directed to Father Manuel Musallam, Pastor of Holy Family Church, the Missionaries of Charity, and other religious Congregations, who serve those especially vulnerable in the homeland of Jesus, now being tragically scourged by death, human pain, material damage, and tears that cry out for peace.

Sua Santità Papa Benedetto XVI ha espresso più volte la Sua vicinanza ai nostri fratelli e sorelle che abitano nella Striscia di Gaza, i quali hanno già tanto sofferto a motivo del persistente conflitto che ha causato una grave crisi umanitaria.
A nome del Papa, il Pontificio Consiglio Cor Unum, il Dicastero della Santa Sede che ha il compito di realizzare le iniziative caritative del Pontefice, ha inviato un Suo segno personale e concreto per aiutare e sostenere la piccola ma fervente presenza cattolica a Gaza. Gli aiuti sono stati inviati a Padre Manuel Musallam, Parroco della Chiesa della Santa Famiglia, alle Missionarie della Carità e ad altre Congregazione religiose, che sono al servizio delle persone più vulnerabili nella terra natale di Gesù, ora tragicamente colpita dalla morte, dalla sofferenza, dai danni materiali, mentre le popolazioni versano lacrime che invocano la pace.
