Al termine della Celebrazione Eucaristica nella "Neue Messe" di München, il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI guida la recita dell’Angelus con i fedeli convenuti.
Queste le parole del Papa nell’introdurre la preghiera mariana:

Liebe Brüder und Schwestern!

Bevor wir unsere Eucharistiefeier mit dem feierlichen Segen abschließen, wollen wir uns sammeln im Gebet des „Engel des Herrn". In unseren Überlegungen zu den Lesungen der Messe sind wir uns darüber klar geworden, wie notwendig es ist – für das Leben des Einzelnen wie für das friedliche Zusammenleben aller –, Gott als Zentrum der Wirklichkeit und als Zentrum unseres eigenen Lebens zu sehen. Das Vorbild schlechthin für eine solche Haltung ist Maria, die Mutter des Herrn. Sie war während ihres ganzen Lebens die Hörende, die Jungfrau mit dem offenen Herzen für Gott und für die Menschen. Das haben die Gläubigen von den ersten Jahrhunderten des Christentums an begriffen, und darum haben sie sich in jeder Not und Bedrängnis vertrauensvoll an sie gewandt und ihre Hilfe und ihre Fürsprache bei Gott erfleht.

Hier in unserem bayerischen Land bezeugen das Hunderte von Kirchen und Wallfahrtsorten, die ihr geweiht sind. Es sind Stätten, zu denen das ganze Jahr hindurch unzählige Pilger strömen, um sich der mütterlichen und fürsorglichen Liebe Marias anzuvertrauen. Hier in München erhebt sich im Zentrum der Stadt die Mariensäule, an der vor genau 390 Jahren das Land Bayern feierlich dem Schutz der Gottesmutter anvertraut wurde, und wo ich gestern erneut den Segen der Patrona Bavariae für Stadt und Land erfleht habe.

Und – wie könnte man es vergessen? – eine besondere Erwähnung gebührt natürlich dem Wallfahrtsort Altötting, zu dem ich morgen pilgern werde. Dort werde ich die Freude haben, die neue Anbetungskapelle feierlich dem Gebrauch zu übergeben, die als solche gerade an diesem Ort ein ausdrucksstarkes Zeichen für die Rolle Marias ist: Sie ist und bleibt immer die Magd des Herrn, die nicht sich selbst ins Zentrum setzt, sondern uns zu Gott hinführen will und uns einen Lebensstil lehren möchte, in dem Gott als Mitteder Wirklichkeit und als Zentrum unseres eigenen Lebens erkannt wird. An sie wenden wir uns jetzt mit dem Gebet des „Engel des Herrn".

Cari fratelli e sorelle!

Prima di concludere con la benedizione solenne questa nostra Celebrazione eucaristica, vogliamo raccoglierci nella recita dell'Angelus. Riflettendo sulle letture della Messa ci siamo resi conto di quanto sia necessario – per la vita del singolo come per la convivenza serena e pacifica di tutti – vedere Dio come centro della realtà e come centro della nostra vita personale. L'esempio per eccellenza di un tale atteggiamento è Maria, la Madre del Signore. Lei, durante tutta la sua vita terrena, è stata la Donna dell'ascolto, la Vergine col cuore aperto verso Dio e verso gli uomini. Questo, i fedeli l'hanno capito fin dai primi secoli del cristianesimo, e perciò in ogni loro necessità e tribolazione si sono fiduciosamente rivolti a Lei, invocando il suo aiuto e la sua intercessione presso Dio.

Ne danno testimonianza, qui nella nostra Terra bavarese, centinaia di chiese e di santuari a Lei dedicati. Sono luoghi verso i quali durante tutto l'anno confluiscono innumerevoli pellegrini per affidarsi all'amore materno e premuroso di Maria. Qui a Monaco, al centro della città, s'innalza la Mariensäule, davanti alla quale, proprio 390 anni fa, la Baviera fu affidata solennemente alla protezione della Madre di Dio, e dove ieri ho implorato nuovamente la benedizione della Patrona Bavariae per la città e il Paese.

E come non pensare in modo particolare al santuario di Altötting, dove domani mi recherò in pellegrinaggio? Lì avrò la gioia di inaugurare la nuova Cappella dell'Adorazione che, proprio in quel luogo, è un segno eloquente del ruolo di Maria: Lei è e rimane la serva del Signore che non si mette al centro, ma vuole guidarci verso Dio, vuole insegnarci uno stile di vita in cui Dio viene riconosciuto come centro della realtà e della stessa nostra vita personale. A Lei rivolgiamo ora la preghiera dell’Angelus.

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

Before concluding our Eucharistic celebration with the solemn blessing, let us recollect ourselves by praying the Angelus. In reflecting on the readings of the Mass, we have realized how necessary it is – both for the lives of individuals and for the serene and peaceful coexistence of all people – to see God as the centre of all there is and the centre of our personal lives. The supreme example of this attitude is Mary, Mother of the Lord. Throughout her earthly life, she was the Woman who listened, the Virgin whose heart was open towards God and towards others. The faithful have understood this since the earliest centuries of Christianity, and therefore in all their needs and trials they have confidently turned to her, imploring her help and her intercession with God.

As a witness to this, here in our Bavarian homeland there are hundreds of churches and shrines dedicated to Mary. They are places to which countless pilgrims come flocking throughout the year, to entrust themselves to her maternal love and concern. Here in Munich, in the heart of the city, rises the Mariensäule, before which, exactly 390 years ago, Bavaria was solemnly entrusted to the protection of the Mother of God, and before which yesterday I implored once more the blessing of the Patrona Bavariae upon this city and upon this land.

And how can we not think in a special way of the shrine of Altötting, where I shall go tomorrow on pilgrimage? There I will have the joy of solemnly inaugurating the new Adoration Chapel which, precisely in that place, is an eloquent sign of Mary’s role: she is and remains the handmaid of the Lord who does not put herself at the centre, but wants to lead us towards God, to teach us a way of life in which God is acknowledge as the centre of all there is and the centre of our personal lives. To her let us now address our Angelus prayer.
