“Preserving Human Voices and Faces”
An International Conference on Artificial Intelligence at the Urbaniana University
organized by the Dicastery for Communication
in collaboration with the Dicastery for Culture and Education and the John XXIII Foundation
To celebrate World Day of Social Communications, the Dicastery for Communication has organized an international conference at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, to be held on Thursday 21 May.
The theme, “Preserving human voices and faces”, echoes that of Leo XIV’s Message for the Day and highlights the spirit with which the organizers have invited figures from the academic world, representatives of institutions, experts from the hi-tech sector and journalists to discuss Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the lives of individuals, communities and nations.
The event, in collaboration with the Dicastery for Culture and Education and the Saint John XXIII Foundation, will take place throughout the day on 21 May, in the Great Hall of the Pontifical university.
The event is intended to offer an opportunity for reflection and discussion, to respond to the Pontiff’s exhortation to “cherish the gift of communication as the deepest truth of humanity, to which all technological innovation should also be oriented”:
The conference will be introduced by interventions from Dr. Paolo Ruffini, prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, and Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education.
