The Jubilee at Lucca Comics

Pavilion dedicated to the Official Mascot

(Vatican City) – The Dicastery for Evangelization, Section for Fundamental Questions regarding Evangelization in the world, responsible for the organization of the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025, will participate in the 2024 edition of the international comics fair, “Lucca Comics and Games”, with a space dedicated to the official mascot of the Jubilee: Luce&Friends.

It is the first time that a Holy See Dicastery participates in the Tuscan festival, the most important in Europe dedicated to comics, games, videogames, animated cinema, fantasy narrative, illustration and TV series.

“We are happy to be able to participate. It will be an opportunity to make known the official mascot of the Jubilee, Luce, symbol of hope and fraternity, values that align perfectly with the theme of the festival”, said the pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, in charge of the organization of the Jubilee. “We think that a showcase such as Luca Comics will enable us to speak to the younger generations about the theme of hope, more central than ever to the Gospel message”.

“We are very honoured and happy that Lucca Comics&Games has been chosen by the Dicastery for Evangelization as the first event to present Luce, the first mascot of an Ordinary Jubilee, to the world. We hope that Lucca represents only the first stage of a long journey under the banner of inclusion, sharing, and hope”, commented Lucca Comics&Games director Emanuele Vietina.

The Jubilee Pavilion will be situated near the archbishopric of Lucca, in Piazzale Mons. Giulio Arrigoni, 2. It may be visited from 30 October to 2 November, and will offer the opportunity to meet Luce and to seek information on the Jubilee activities. The Dicastery for Evangelization expresses its gratitude to Archbishop Paolo Giulietti of Lucca for having kindly offered his hospitality and collaboration for this event.
