WE, HOME: AT THE JP2 INSTITUTE, AN IMPORTANT PHOTO EXHIBITION ORGANIZED BY THE ICFS
Narrating the importance of relationships and acts of care in the family through images, key-words and podcasts: this is offered by We, Home, an itinerant photographic exhibition conceived to mark fifty years of the International Centre for Family Studies, which from 24 October will be hosted by the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute for Marriage and Family Science, and the Redemptor hominis Institute of the Pontifical Lateran University.
“In its first fifty years of activity, research and international conferences, the ICFS has studied the evolution of the family and participated in the public debate on family policy”, explains Francesco Belletti, director of the ICFS. “The Centre has been a close observer of numerous changes: indeed, the family is the primary place where the person experiences relations, difference and intergenerationality”.
Fifty photos for fify years: We, Home is curated by the photographers Roberto Morelli and Simone Durante, who have produced ten photographic campaigns, portraits taken within the family to capture the gestures of care and affection, and the relationships that are lived in the family.
The International Centre for Family Studies was founded in 1974 – by the initiative of Don Giuseppe Zilli, the historical director of Famiglia Cristiana – and became a national point of reference for studies and research on the family. It develops projects also in partnership with other institutions in Italy and throughout the world, and promotes cultural and formation activities. Every year it publishes the ICFS Family Report, observing the social changes that affect the family in Italy (www.cisf.it).
The John Paul II Institute is a unique academic institution, directly willed by Saint Pope John Paul II who founded it in 1981, and relaunched personally by Pope Francis following the ecclesial Synod on the family. The Institute is present with its Sections throughout the world. Its main objective is formation on themes regarding the family and marriage as fundamental elements for ecclesial, social and economic development (www.institutogp2.it).
The “Redemptor hominis” Pastoral Institute, erected by Pius XII within the Pontifical Lateran University in 1958, pays special attention to the specific theme of the identity of the discipline of pastoral theology. It proposes to foster research, study and formation in the pastoral-theological sphere, as well as to stimulate and trace paths of dialogue with the human and social sciences (www.pul.va/istituto-pastorale/).
