The Navarro-Valls International Award returns to Rome on 8 July with its second edition: an event to celebrate Leadership and Benevolence
· The Award organized by the Biomedical University Foundation will go to two winners, one Senior and one Junior
· Fundraising for scholarships at the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome, a social elevator to promote and enhance deserving students from unfavorable socioeconomic backgrounds.
Rome, 3 July 2024 – the Joaquín Navarro-Valls International Award for Leadership and Benevolence, now in its second edition, will return on Monday 8 July to the Hall of the Protomoteca of the Capitoline Museums in Rome, and will double the awards to leaders who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields for their capacity for leadership and for their significant contribution to society in the pursuit of the “Good of the Person”, selecting a Senior and a Junior figure.
The Scientific Committee of the Award, responsible for the search and selection of candidates (three for each category), is chaired by Federico Eichberg and includes other membes such as Matteo Colaninno, Giuseppe Cornetto Bourlot, Stefano Lucchini and Luisa Todini. The Jury, responsible for nominating the winners, is made up of the President of the Biomedical University Foundation, Alessandro Pernigo, and Paolo Arullani, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Bianca Maria Farina, Gianni Letta and Lucia Vedani.
Besides the prize-giving ceremony, the event will be an important opportunity for raising funds destined for the allocation of study grants for the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, with the aim of guaranteeing the right to study, promoting inclusion and supporting the development of deserving and underprivileged talent.
The Biomedical University Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting the development of the University and the Campus Bio-Medico Foundation University Hospital, is organizing this event in memory of its co-founder, Joaquín Navarro-Valls, physician and journalist, spokesman for Pope John Paul II and director of the Holy See Press Office for 22 years, from 1984 to 2006.
The objective of the Award is to identify and highlight outstanding personalities who embody the values of leadership and benevolence in their social, cultural, sports, scientific, economic and institutional endeavours, with the aim of promoting models that contribute to the improvement of society through solidarity and benevolence for a more responsible, sustainable, inclusive world that is attentive to the dignity of the Person.
In the first edition, the Prize was awarded to entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli.
