PRESS RELEASE
Pope Francis meets priests with more than 40 years of ordination
A moment of listening and dialogue this afternoon at San Giuseppe al Trionfale
Today, 14 May 2024, at 15.30, POPE FRANCIS will go to the parish of San Giuseppe al Trionfale (via Bernardino Telesio, 4/b) to meet with priests with 40 years or more of ordained ministry. A total of around sixty priests will participate, and Bishop BALDO REINA, vicegerent of the diocese of Rome, and Bishop MICHELE DI TOLVE, delegate of the area for the care of the diaconate, the clergy and religious life, will be present. Then, on Wednesday 29 May, again at 15.30, the Pontiff will meet priests ordained between 2014 and 2024, in their first ten years of ordination; the appointment will be at the House of the Pious Sisters Disciples of the Divine Master, Via Portuense, 739. He will subsequently meet with priests from 11 to 39 years of ordination.
“It is the wish of the Holy Father, after concluding his tour of the sectors of the diocese of Rome, to meet all the priests according to the year of their priestly ordination. It is his desire to continue to maintain direct dialogue with the priests of his diocese”, explains Bishop Di Tolve, who adds: “The Pope is beginning this tour by meeting the most mature priests, those who have gone through various seasons of the life of the diocese of Rome. The recent publication of the Bull of Indiction of the Jubilee will be one of the subjects of dialogue and exchange”.
