The programme of the 18th CA National Assembly, and the data of the Sustainability Report 2024

On Friday 19 April 2024, at 11.30, at the historic headquarters of Italian Catholic Action in Rome at Via della Conciliazione 1 (second floor), a press conference will be held to present With open arms, the national meeting of CA with Pope Francis, to be held in the morning of Thursday 25 April 2024 in Saint Peter’s Square. A live television broadcast by TG1 RAI is scheduled to start at around 9.30.

Over 50,000 members and friends of Italian Catholic Action from all the dioceses of Italy will meet the Holy Father to listen to his word and celebrate with him. It will be a gathering of people, of faces and stories of all ages that still have much to say to our country and the Church.

With open arms” is the title of the meeting with Pope Francis, but also the way in which CA will greet in Saint Peter’s Square all those who wish to join us for a living experience of the synodal Church, on a day dear to CA and to all Italians. It is, above all, Italian Catholic Action’s way of living out its commitment to the present and to building tomorrow’s world, with peace and care for the common home at heart.

Giuseppe Notarstefano, national President of Italian Catholic Action, and Msgr. Claudio Giuliodori, general Ecclesiastical Assistant of the association, will participate in the press conference.

The meeting with Pope Francis will serve as a prologue to the work of the 18th Elective National Assembly of CA, Witnesses to all that He did, which will take place in Sacrofano, Rome, at the Fraterna Domus, from the afternoon of Thursday 25 April to the morning of Sunday 28 April 2024. There will be 1000 delegates from all the dioceses of Italy, who will elect the National Council of Italian Catholic Action for the three-year term from 2024 to 2027.

Guests of the 18th CA Assembly will include Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Holy See Secretary of State, Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, metropolitan archbishop of Bologna and president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, and Cardinal Mario Grech, secretary general of the General Secretariat of the Synod.

During the press conference, the data of the Sustainability Report 2024 (on data from 2023) of Italian Catholic Action will be presented. It is an ecclesial and civil entity with a history of over a century and a half, which has more than 221,000 members of all ages, present in more than 5000 Italian parishes.

Light refreshments will be offered at the end of the Conference
