COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE DICASTERY FOR THE SERVICE OF CHARITY

The Almoner of His Holiness Pope Francis, Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, announces the dispatch of new humanitarian aid for Ukraine, which has just arrived from Korea.

It consists of two TIR trucks carrying food gifts from a major Korean company that has sent 300,000 portions of freeze-dried broth, a very nutritious food that can be prepared simply by adding hot water, to the Vatican, to be distributed to the people in the areas most affected by the war.

Helping with the unloading and transfer of the aid, in the complex of the Greek-Catholic parish of Santa Sofia in Rome, from where it will then leave for Ukraine, were thirty homeless people, guests of Pope Francis’ dormitory, who did not hesitate to volunteer in organizing the aid shipment.

“This is an operation that has been carried out 106 other times since the war in Ukraine began”, explains the Pope's Almoner; “as many as the number of trucks sent”.

“In the next trips to Ukraine”, the Almoner adds, “we will not only bring food, but also open a large house in Lviv for war widows and mothers with children, built with the help of other organizations, but in which the Holy Father played the main role”.
