PRESS RELEASE: DICASTERY FOR THE SERVICE OF CHARITY

The Holy Father is sending his Almoner to Ukraine once again, for the sixth time.

The trip involves going to the Kherson area where, following the destruction of the dam, the innocent population is in great distress and many people have lost their lives.

Cardinal Konrad Krajewski's mission is to be with the people, to pray with them and to bring an embrace and concrete support from the Pope.

The Almoner will travel to Ukraine by car, loaded with the most urgent medicines, to have the opportunity to visit, along the way, the various religious communities, the parishes of the Catholics of Byzantine and Latin rite, and Orthodox.

The second truck full of foodstuffs (received mostly from Korea), medicines and medical supplies, to be delivered to the areas most affected by the dam explosion, will also depart in these days.

His mission is evangelical and underlines Pope Francis' closeness to beleaguered Ukraine.
