The “More Women’s Leadership for a Better World” Research Project

"The choice of the theme of women's leadership for the first joint research," reads the Introduction to the volume by Anna Maria Tarantola, "is closely linked to the Holy Father's repeated invitation to the Centesimus Annus Foundation to identify a new model of fair, solidarity-based, inclusive and sustainable development and, therefore, the need to eliminate injustice, inequality, poverty, and disparities in rights and opportunities. These include inequalities affecting women, who are still subject to discrimination and exclusion in many situations".

And it is the analysis of prejudices, obstacles and proposed actions according to perspectives of fairness and equality that is at the centre of the research, which, starting from the concepts of justice, of 'caring', of the common good, and passing through the study of the presence of women in Catholic universities and higher education institutions, proposes project ideas and solutions for inclusive solidarity, a positive impact of diversity in institutional bodies, in a vision of enrichment and sustainability and social improvement through women's contribution to societies.

"I believe this volume is an excellent summary of SACRU's mission, which is to promote Higher Education and address issues with a significant impact on society through international research," explains Pier Sandro Cocconcelli. "It denotes the Alliance's ability to develop strategic relationships with prestigious external stakeholders, such as the Centesimus Annus Foundation. It is in fact a scientific initiative aimed at identifying a new model of social inclusion to break down the barriers that still hinder women's access to top positions”.
