Upon leaving Agostino Gemelli University Hospital, shortly before 9.00, Pope Francis went to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, where he paused in prayer before the icon of Mary, Salus Populi Romani.

Before returning to the Vatican, shortly after 10.00, Pope Francis stopped to visit briefly the Sisters of the Maria Santissima Bambina Institute, gathered for their General Chapter, and outside the Perugino entrance, to greet the forces of order and to thank them for their service.

The Sunday Angelus and the audiences schedule for the coming days are confirmed, apart from the General Audience on Wednesday 21 June, which has been cancelled to ensure the Holy Father’s post-operative recovery.
